Ali Ray is a writer and director with over two decades of experience crafting compelling stories across film, television, and print, specialising in art, culture, food and history.

Ali has directed critically acclaimed documentaries, authored scripts and books and collaborated with major broadcasters and cultural institutions. Whether capturing the inner world of an artist or bringing the best out of interviewees, she brings a keen eye for detail and a deep respect for her subjects.

Based in Somerset, Ali works across the UK and internationally.

I shoot on location around the world. My recent art films have shown in over 300 UK cinemas as well as have international cinema release and film festivals.

I’ve also produced, directed and researched documentary and factual series for Channel 4, BBC, Channel 5, Sky Arts as well as international broadcasters for 28 years”
